I help you to reduce the stress of moving abroad in 3 ways.

  1. We look at your stress triggers, and we find tools that personally work for you to manage your stress.

  2. We look at the emotional support you’ll need in preparation to move abroad and the support you’ll need once you make it London.

  3. We will look at how to ensure that you have strong self-care routines embedded.

Emotional Support

I help you to consider the emotional stress around moving. It’s more than just packing up your things and moving. You’ll be leaving behind friends, family and a familiar way of life. We look at these issues and more:

  1. Have you prepared yourself for “being the new kid”?

  2. Have you prepared yourself for “building a new community” that can offer you emotional support?

  3. Have you considered the “emotional needs” of those that are coming with you, “your partner or kids”?

Cultural Acclimatisation

Every city has it’s rhythm, beat and idiosyncrasies. So does London. I can guarantee you that the conception that you have in your head will be  different to what you actually experience. I help you to understand how 2 Great English Speaking Countries can be so different! We’ll look at issues such as:

  1. Have you considered how the ‘down-beat’ nature of British people might make you feel?

  2. Have you considered that although we speak the same language, we have different slang and different commonly used phrases? 

  3. Have considered how the British culture of  “going to the Pub” and drinking potentially more than you’re used to will affect your social life?

 

When might you benefit from Expat Coaching?

You’ll benefit from Expat coaching if any of the following resonate with you:



  • You are an Armed Services Individual, Couple or Family

  • You are moving for the first time to for at least 1 yr plus

  • You are relocating with your company as an Individual, Couple or Family

  • You are moving as part of a “life adventure”, or as part of a career shift (at a Senior Level)

What does Expat Coaching for acclimation look like?

It means helping you to think about more than just getting your stuff packed and shipped abroad. I work with you to be emotionally ready for moving abroad and once you’re here I help you to acclimatise like a pro.

How does Expat coaching work?

The coaching programme has 4 steps.

Step 1

The first stage is Discovery. As part of this, you’ll need to complete my assessment survey. The survey looks at how prepared you are and helps us to identify any gaps. Click here to complete the Survey.

Step 2

Once you’ve completed the survey, you can Book a Free 1 hour Discovery Call. During this session, I’ll work with you to build up a picture of your thoughts, your emotions and what we could do to make you feel even better about the move or acclimating to London.

Step 3

Following this, we’ll then schedule 3 1 to 1  sessions to start preparing for the deep work we’re going to do to help you move or acclimatise to London life. The first session we work solely on committing yourself to the coaching journey and setting out expectations of each-other. The following 2 sessions we work on making a plan to start tackling the issues you’ll need to help you feel great about moving to London.

Step 4

I will follow up with you 3 weeks after your last 1 to 1  session to see how you are doing and if you need further support. You will be sent this follow up survey.



How do the coaching sessions work?

The coaching takes the form of 1-2-1 Sessions via Zoom, Google Hangouts or Skype. Here is how coaching works with me:

  • coaching on emotional issues involved with moving

  • coaching on employment and job hunting in London

  • coaching on building a positive mindset

  • coaching tailored to your personal needs

  • Goal setting and timelines
